Car fires are something that can make for exciting photos but are generally not newsworthy unless it is not an ordinary car fire. If you are listening to your scanner and you hear units responding to a car fire late at night or in a rural area, make sure you monitor that call. A normal car fire is not news but if that car was set on fire to hide evidence or even a murder and you have photos, that is your shot!
The Money Shot
- Murder
If the car fire was intentionally set to cover up a murder then a photo of the charred car is a good shot to get. Some newspaper will run photos of a charred body but most will not. Shoot it anyways just in case an editor asks for it.[private_pro] - Crime Scene
If the car fire is an actual crime scene get photos of crime scene technicians collecting evidence around the vehicle. Those are kind of boring photos that probably won’t sell but if you happen to get a shot of a CSI tech holding up a gun they just found in the burned car that can easily run as a lead photo. - Expensive Cars
If the car that just burned up is an expensive Lamborghini or Ferrari chances are that expensive ride belongs to someone famous or with a lot of money. Plus simply just seeing one of those expensive cars in flames or burned up may sell somewhere! Shoot it! - Firefighting
Like I said before a car burning will not generally make news but if you can get a car fully involved in flames that happened to cause a huge traffic delay during rush hour… it may sell![/private_pro]
